Getting Started

Hello and welcome ... I'm Lynn!

So glad you are joining our group intended to explore meditation as a tool of self-awareness, clarity and grounding.

Why meditation?

Because it has the potential to make a radical difference in your life. What kind of difference? It’s different for every person, but based on the literature and my own practice, daily meditation can help you be more present in your life. It can help you focus better. It can help you let go of negative self-talk and develop a more positive self-image and mindset.

Daily training of your mind to ground yourself in the present moment has the amazing potential to free yourself from your mind by becoming more in-tune with your mind, by learning to accept yourself as you are, flaws and all.

What I’ve noticed most about myself as a result of practicing meditation on a consistent basis is the ability to more easily ride the waves of daily life. I’m definitely a person who appreciates calm and order. Having three kids and balancing work with family life does not always promote these two ideals. What I’ve noticed is that my meditation practice helps me stay grounded and calm even when things go awry.

I’m better able to dial into myself, remain steady, and be okay with what is.

... it's like the best thing ever in life!

If you’ve ever thought to yourself, I should learn to meditate, this course is for you.

You’re probably already aware of the multitude of benefits meditation can bring to your life. Among others, we can thank Dr. Jon Kabit-Zinn for helping bring mindfulness and meditation into the mainstream. A simple Google search will bring up an unlimited amount of how-to’s, why it’s important to cultivate mindfulness, and how researchers are uncovering more and more reasons to meditate everyday.

I’m not here to convince you that developing a meditation practice has the potential to significantly change your life. I’m here to teach you one simple meditation technique, called shamatha vispassana, using breath as the object of our attention.

I’m here to provide the framework, support and encouragement for you to explore this practice for a period of three weeks and see for yourself how things might unfold. How your practice might translate into your daily life. How you might wish to cultivate this habit in the long-term.

This course begins with five days of meditation instruction, along with a short lesson each day on the topic of meditation overall.

We then move into practicing meditation together on a daily basis over the next 14 days. Every day you will receive a ten-minute guided meditation via video along with prompts to help reflect upon your experience as we go. The course also offers guidance on the most frequently asked questions when it comes to developing a daily meditation practice.

The is thing, it’s pretty much a no brainer that learning to meditate will enhance your life in many ways.

Meditation itself is a simple habit. Anyone can sit and breathe, right?

The deal is that it’s NOT EASY.

As with any habit, it takes time and dedication to really make it a part of your life. This course is intended to create and hold the space for you to learn this technique and begin to cultivate a daily practice so that you may experience what it might bring into YOUR LIFE. It’s an opportunity to see how you might feel as a result of meditating on a daily basis.

The beauty is that daily meditation doesn’t require a ton of time. But it does require resolve and consistency to build a practice. You are honing the muscle of your mind, and like any muscle that you work at the gym, it takes consistent action over a period of time to experience any sort of change or growth.

This course enables you to begin exploring and honing your mind in ways unimaginable. An exciting proposition and opportunity, indeed. One that holds the potential to change your life in so many ways.

Can’t wait to get started with you!
